According to Aeroaffaires, a leading private jet services company, here is a list of the ten largest airports in the world:

1. King Fahd International Airport (DMM)

Named after King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, covers approximately 315 square kilometers and can accommodate 9.7 million passengers annually. Equipped with mosque facilities that can hold up to 2,000 worshipers, the airport is nearly half the size of Jakarta, Indonesia, which covers an area of 661.52 square kilometers.

2. Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)

Al Maktoum International Airport or DWC in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is an aviation complex that spans an area of around 140 square kilometers. It was inaugurated in 2010 and serves as the main hub for the Emirates airline and boasts one of the longest runways in the world.

3. Denver International Airport (DEN)

Denver International Airport in Denver, Colorado, United States (US) encompasses an area of about 136 square kilometers, making it one of the largest airports in the United States.

4. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL)

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport in Atlanta, Georgia stands on an area of 78 square kilometers. Known for being the busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger numbers and air traffic, ATL has a unique dual-terminal design as a central connecting point for travelers in the United States.

5. Istanbul International Airport (Ist)

Istanbul International Airport in Turkiye is a major gateway between Europe and Asia, covering approximately 76.5 square kilometers. The airport features contemporary terminals, an extensive list of amenities, and effective transportation.

6. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)

Dallas International Airport/Fort Worth is situated between Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas, US. The second busiest airport in the world has an area of around 69.63 square kilometers. DFW began operating in 1973 and managed to record its highest number of passengers in 2021, reaching 62.5 million people.

7. Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida, US, covers an area of 53.8 square kilometers. Formerly known as McCoy Air Force Base, the airport began operating in 1981 and served around 40.3 million passengers from various domestic and international flight routes in 2021. 

8. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Washington Dulles International Airport is located in the metropolitan area of Washington DC, US. The 52.6 square-kilometer airport is famous for its iconic architecture designed by Eero Saarinen and was named after the 52nd US Secretary John Foster Dulles. It began operating in 1962.

9. Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX)

Beijing Daxing International Airport is on the border of the Capital City of China and Langfang, Hebei Province. Designed by the leading architect Zaha Hadid, the airport has a landscape shape resembling a sea star and covers an area of around 47 square kilometers. It won the title of the cleanest airport in Asia Pacific in 2020. 

10. George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in the north of Houston, Texas, USA, encompasses an area of 47 square kilometers. Its Terminal A is often referred to as the “IAH Mickey Leland Terminal” and features a unique architectural design that is reminiscent of an airfoil or a bird in flight.
