6 Of The Most Envious Zodiac Signs Who Covet What Others Have

Sometimes, people say jealousy when they really mean envy. It’s confusing but there is a difference between these two words.

In an article on Psychology Today, author Richard Smith Ph. D. writes, “Envy occurs when we lack a desired attribute enjoyed by another. Jealousy occurs when something we already possess (usually a special relationship) is threatened by a third person... And so envy is a two-person situation whereas jealous is a three-person situation. Envy is a reaction to lacking something. Jealousy is a reaction to the threat of losing something (usually someone)."

Jealousy and envy are so often linked together in our minds that we see them as being one in the same, and it's easy to feel both emotions at the same time. If you wish that you had a ton of money like your best friend, that’s envy; if you hate the fact that your ex moved on with a new partner, that’s jealousy.

Envy seems to be a bit more low-key and passive than jealousy; though, if your feelings of envy grow, they can turn into jealousy. Both can motivate you to take actions that are normally against your better judgment.

1. TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)

Taurus love to have beautiful and expensive things, and it pains them for other people have these things when they don't. In fact, envy can make Taurus very competitive — they definitely can have a Keeping up with the Kardashians vibe to them.

If their friend gets a flashy new car, Taurus wants one too. Or, if they're at a restaurant, they may have order regret if what someone else ordered looks more delicious than what Taurus ordered.

2. VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)

Virgos tend to envy those who appear to have it all. Social media can intensify Virgo's envy when it seems as if everyone is more perfect than them or has a more exceptional life.

Virgos can be somewhat judgmental of others and this (though they'd never admit it) can come from a place of envy. Why is it when Virgo works so diligently to make themselves the best, there are far less worthy people who seem to do better than them? It just doesn't make any sense.

3. CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)

Capricorn really doesn't want to be envious of others, but sometimes they just can't help it, especially when it appears that someone has achieved the success that Capricorn has worked so hard to achieve.

Capricorn will channel that envious energy and use it to spur them on. They can be envious but that doesn't mean it will stop them from going for their goals. They tend to keep a very clear picture in their mind of what they want/envy and then strive toward getting it.

4. SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)

Scorpio isn't usually envious of what other people have in terms of luxury items or possessions, but they do envy other people's athletic prowess, their artistic talents, or personality traits such as not letting things get to them, being easy going, or not taking things too personally.

Scorpios can be envious of people as well. If someone has a smoking hot partner, Scorpio may envy them. As long as their envy doesn't lead to jealousy, things will be cool; if they do, watch out, because Scorpios are intense when they're jealous.

5. GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)

There are some Geminis who can be somewhat superficial and shallow. Geminis can become fixated on what other people have, instead of being grateful what they have.

Gemini may wish that they had a nicer house or a better car, but they don't begrudge the people who do have them; it just makes them feel a little bit like a failure and a little down. Generally, once they get around people in a social situation, they'll feel much better and move past their feelings of envy.

6. LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)

Libras tend to feel that they're not doing enough and that makes them envious of people who have a clear picture of their goals and go directly toward them. Libras can feel stymied as if they don't know what to do or what action to take. They feel stuck.

They want to be recognized for their talents and abilities like the people they envy, but it's all so overwhelming that they must fight feeling as if they should give up and move forward. Libras envy people who are successful and seemed to gain their success easily.
