Alexis Perry's Women's Basketball Recruiting Profile
Mia Lopez Personal Statement
My name is Alexis Perry and I have been a passionate student-athlete for the past 6 years. I am currently a member of my high school varsity team at Frederick Douglas High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland where I play the position of shooting guard. In addition, I have been a member of the Team Liberty AAU Team for the past 2 years where I also play the position of shooting guard. I am considered one of the strongest 6th man wherein I am an excellent defensive player; frequently creating turnovers and averaging at least 2-3 steals per game.
In addition to being a dedicated basketball player, I have always maintained a position on the honor roll with a current GPA of 4.4. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) student I have developed excellent critical thinking skills. At the same time, as a student leader in the Student Government Association, as well as most recently the LEO Club, I have developed strong leadership characteristics. I have found that merging these two skills together, coupled with my tenacity and passion, makes me a well-rounded and very teachable student-athlete.
At the same time, my ability to handle challenges has also strengthened my character and love for the game. After suffering a major setback during my freshman year, tearing my ACL and Meniscus, I used this challenge as a time of reflection and re-dedication to my love of the game. After persevering and successfully recovering, I remain actively involved in ensuring that I take care of myself physically and emotionally. I am dedicated to remaining healthy through the use of a personal trainer twice a week, basketball skills coach twice a week, and basketball practice five days per week (both with the team and independently). I intend to bring these attributes to a great university.
