And just like that … three beloved ladies who lunch announced plans to return to our screens.

2021 is clearly making moves to redeem itself with Sunday's groundbreaking announcement. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) are back for more hijinks and Manolos in HBO Max's reboot of Sex and the City.

Here's everything we know about the next chapter.

The Official Full-Length Trailer Is Here

After all of this time and speculation, we finally have the official trailer.

In the nearly two-minute clip, we see Carrie podcasting, the girls back together for their frequent lunch dates, and of course, some steamy affection between Carrie and her husband, Mr. Big.

And, obviously, they're still talking about sex. During an interview, new character Che Diaz (played by Grey's Anatomy alum Sara Ramírez) asks Carrie if she's ever masturbated in public, to which the fashion fanatic responds, "Not since Barneys closed."

We also see a glimpse of Charlotte's life with her husband Harry (Evan Handler) and their daughters Lily and Rose, as well as Miranda's relationship with her husband Steve.

The trailer closes out with Carrie saying, "And just like that, after all the years and all the changes, you are still you," before we see her admiringly look at her shoe collection, adding, "Hello lovers."

Along with the trailer, we were also gifted with the show's official poster, in which we see Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda standing together dressed to the nines, of course.

Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) Allegedly Moved to London

According to the Daily Mail, Samantha's character will not be killed off in the reboot. Instead, the show will mention that the beloved character, played by Kim Cattrall, moved to London, where she is "thriving."

"We couldn't have Samantha roaming around New York City and not have the other women not interacting with her. It just wouldn't have made sense," the sources shared.

"Sending her to Los Angeles wasn't an option as we'd done that in the first movie, so having her character based in London really was the perfect way to keep her alive and explain her absence," the sources continued.

They added that Samantha will be talked about, and viewers will find out that she is doing well across the pond, but has since had a fall out with Carrie. And reportedly, by the end of the season, Carrie will try to make amends with her friend.

"Carrie is the one who has the tough time without Samantha and by the end of And Just Like That ... you'll see Carrie extend the olive branch and try and rekindle the friendship," the sources said.

And Just Like That ... HBO Shared a Snapshot From the Show

After Sarah Jessica Parker offered a peek at the script from the show's first episode, HBO gave fans a look at the main cast. While it may be strange to see the girls without Samantha Jones, it looks like Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are doing just fine.

... And Then, Fans Finally Got a Teaser Trailer With an Official Release Date

Ahead of the show's Dec. 9 premiere, HBO Max released a full trailer. Of course, there was fashion, there were appearances by fan favorites, and the new faces popped up, too.

"They say some things never change, but the truth is life is full of surprises. As your story unfolds the city reinvents itself. And, just like that a new chapter begins," Carrie says via a voiceover before the familiar scenery of N.Y.C. fills the screen. The clip also offered up peeks at Charlotte's family life (a piano recital) and Miranda hosting a picnic in the park.

It's Not Called Sex and the City

The series is ditching the name that propelled it through six seasons and two movies. The reboot, which takes a line from narrator Carrie herself, is titled And Just Like That … And, a testament to the show's 2021-ness, it already has an Instagram account.

Initially, Reports Stated that Samantha Jones "Isn't Part of This Story"

A third SATC film was derailed in the mid-twenty-teens, reportedly due to Cattrall's "outrageous demands." The pot was further stirred when the actress publicly declared that she and her fellow Cosmo-sippers had "never been friends." Things only escalated from there, reaching a fever pitch when Parker sent her condolences after Cattrall's brother passed away. Still, it remained a one-sided battle, with only Cattrall launching verbal grenades.

There have been many proposals regarding a Cattrall-less SATC. The actress herself suggested the role be recast with a woman of color. Fans campaigned for Nixon's Ratched co-star Sharon Stone to take up the mantle. Ultimately, the project was abandoned, which doesn't sound like the worst thing considering Samantha's storyline allegedly revolved around Miranda's 14-year-old son having a crush on her … *Cringe.*

Ultimately, though, the plot will say that the friends just grew apart.

"Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave," HBO's Casey Bloys told TVLine. "Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life … They're trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you're 30, you may not have when you're 50."

Parker responded to a couple of fans who shared their thoughts about the absence of Cattrall's tag in the teaser she posted on Instagram. When one fan implied that Cattrall wasn't tagged because she and Parker "dislike each other," Parker set the record straight. "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would," she wrote. "Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.

Another fan wrote that she'd miss Samantha. Parker commiserated. "We will too," she commented. "We loved her so."

Cattrall has yet to say anything publicly, but did like a tweet on Twitter that read, "I absolutely love Sex and the City, and whilst I am saddened that Samantha will not return, I applaud doing what is best for you and think this is great example of putting yourself first. Well done @KimCattrall."

Mr. Big (Chris Noth) Is Coming Back

Despite earlier reports that Noth will would not be reprising his role of Mr. Big, Carrie's longtime love interest and eventual husband, Deadline has confirmed that he WILL coming back.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Chris again on And Just Like That …," said Executive Producer Michael Patrick King told the outlet. "How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex And The City story without our Mr. Big?"

After reports initially broke that he wouldn't be in the reboot, Noth began replying to distressed Instagram commenters who bemoaned his absence, hinting that fans might have some hope after all. In response to one commenter who begged him to "reconsider," "Well if page six says it... it must be true😉." Replying to another plea for him to bring back Mr. Big, he wrote, "Everything changes- including announcements in the rags."

Believe It or Not, Natasha Is Involved

Bridget Moynahan — the actor that played Mr. Big's second wife, Natasha — was seen filming in New York City on Monday, July 19. Natasha's return adds another layer of intrigue to rumors that there would be marital strife between Big and Carrie. Moynahan joined the original show during its second season in 1999, but didn't return after a one-season run. Fans may remember (of course they remember) that Natasha broke her tooth while she was chasing after Carrie and later delivered one of the show's most memorable monologues.

"Yes, I'm sorry about it all. I'm sorry that he moved to Paris and fell in love with me. I'm sorry we ever got married. I'm sorry he cheated on me with you, and I'm sorry that I pretended to ignore it for as long as I did. I'm sorry I found you in my apartment, fell down the stairs, and broke my tooth. I'm very sorry that after much painful dental surgery, this tooth is still a different color than this tooth," she said. "Finally, I'm very sorry that you felt the need to come down here. Now not only have you ruined my marriage, you've ruined my lunch."

John Corbett Confirmed That He'll Be Back

Aidan Shaw die-hards have reason to celebrate. Corbett's character will be back — and in more than just a cameo appearance.

"I'm going to do the show," he told Page Six. He added that he's set to be in more than just one episode, saying, "I think I might be in quite a few. I like all those people, they've been very nice to me."

Shaw last appeared in the second SATC film, where he and Carrie had a meal together and shared a kiss when the main foursome took a trip to Abu Dhabi.

"They were always cordial," he said of his time on set. "Cordial with me. I got to know the other girls because when you show up for work, you've got to wait a few hours while they finish up a scene, but we always had nice chats and hugs. I never saw it or heard about it."

And Steve Is Returning, Too

Page Six reported that in addition to Big and Aidan returning, Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) would be back, too. A senior production source told to DailyMail.com that "viewers will definitely see Big, Aidan, and Steve" on the show.

Along With a Slew of Other Familiar Faces

Deadline adds that Mario Cantone, Willie Garson, and Evan Handler will be reprising their roles, as well. Cantone will be back as Anthony Marentino, Garson will return as Stanford Blatch, and Handler will continue his portrayal of Harry Goldenblatt. Garson's scenes were filmed before his death.

Sara Ramírez Will Be a New Character

Grey's Anatomy alum Sara Ramírez will be playing Che Diaz. Entertainment Weekly reports that the character is a podcast host, non-binary, and that Carrie is a regular guest on her show. Che uses the pronouns they/them and is described as a "big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humor and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular."

"Everyone at And Just Like That is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ramírez has joined the Sex and the City family," executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement to EW. "Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama — and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show."

The Plot Sounds Familiar

The show is described on IMDb as following the remaining three friends "as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s." So, yes, classic SATC plus smartphones and an influx of AARP mailers.

Production Took Place in N.Y.C.

Variety reports that the series, comprised of 10 half-hour episodes, started production in late spring.

The Show's 3 Stars Will Be Enjoying a Hefty Payday

Parker, Nixon, and Davis, all of whom will also serve as executive producers on the series, are reportedly set to make more than $1 million per episode of the show.

It Will Address the COVID-19 Pandemic

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will "obviously be part of the storyline" in the upcoming SATC reboot.

"That's the city [these characters] live in, and how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all," she told the publication.

SJP added, "I think that Cynthia [Nixon], Kristin [Davis], and I are all excited about the time that has passed," Parker told Vanity Fair. "You know, who are they in this world now? Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way? Did they move with momentum? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous [by what's happening in the world]? I'm so curious and excited to see how the writers imagine these women today."

HBO Max Announced a Very Diverse Writing Team

According to TV Line, original SATC showrunner Michael Patrick King will be returning to And Just Like That … in addition to writers Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky. However, new faces on the team are very diverse. The fresh names include comedian and author Samantha Irby, Fresh Off the Boat co-executive producer Rachna Fruchbom, and Black Lightning writer Keli Goff. The site adds that King faced criticism for the lack of diversity on Sex and the City's initial run both in front of and behind the cameras.

Irby, who is also credited as co-producer, wrote the New York Times bestsellers Meaty, We Are Never Meeting in Real Life, and Wow, No Thank You. Fruchbom, who will also serve as the show's co-executive producer, has previously written for Parks and Recreation. Goff, a contributor to Essence and Vogue, was nominated for two Emmys for her work producing Reversing Roe.

Three Women of Color Are Being Added as Series Regulars

According to TV Line, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda's brunch dates (and perhaps horizons) will be expanding. "Roughly half a dozen" new characters are expected to crop up in And Just Like That ..., at least three of whom are women of color and slated as series regulars.

Casey Bloys, HBO Max's Chief Content Officer, previously explained that showrunner Michael Patrick King and EP Sarah Jessica Parker "didn't want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast," adding, "it's not reflective of New York. So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today."

Jason Lewis Has Not Been Asked Back

Jason Lewis, who played Jerry "Smith" Jerrod in both the series and the films, says he has not been asked to return to the show. When asked in an interview with Fashion Week Daily if he would be returning he said, "I have not, but I would be the last to know! As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls."
