Amtrak train derails in southeast Georgia

An Amtrak train has derailed at the station near a major southeast Georgia town, NBC affiliate WSAV confirmed on Facebook late Wednesday.
WSAV's Darius Johnson took to social media to provide updates on the breaking news adding that the train was coming to the Amtrak station in Savannah, Georgia when it derailed and that, fortunately, it did not turn over.

Authorities report no injuries among the more than 300 onboard but said that they are still assessing the situation. It's unclear at this point if weather in the area played a role in the incident, but video from the scene shows snow caked around the rails.
