Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut is under contract through the 2016-17 season, but he isn't wasting any time expressing his desire to stay with the defending champions.

On Wednesday night, Bogut told Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com that he hopes to get a deal done with the Warriors during the offseason.

But we'll see what happens. We all hear the rumors of other guys coming through here, so if that kind of stuff happens they'll be some shedding of some contracts so who knows what can happen. But you'd be silly to try and leave what's going on right now.... We'll have a few of us that will have opportunities. Obviously I'm contracted for next year, but at the same time if he they offer me an extension I'll definitely listen.

One of the biggest names that will be hitting free agency in the offseason, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, has already been linked to the Warriors, as sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski in February that the Warriors are a "serious threat" to sign him. 

If those rumors are true and the Warriors go after Durant, they would have to shell out some serious money to get his signature. Durant will be coming off the five-year, $89 million deal he signed in 2011, and that number will go up significantly with the salary cap set to increase, per DraftExpress. 

Add the fact that the Warriors already have some salary-cap problems, and Bogut, who has made $36 million over the past three years, might not like the figure Golden State would be willing to offer him. Bogut told Howard-Cooper that there have been no talks of a new deal yet.

According to Spotrac, Golden State's salaries add up to $95,777,682, well over the $70 million salary cap and $84 million luxury-tax threshold.

In his four years with the Warriors, Bogut has put up single-digit averages in points and rebounds while running into various injury troubles, so Golden State might be hesitant to offer the 31-year-old a significant amount of money again.

However, Bogut is looking at the big picture: "Yeah, but I'm not a greedy guy and I'm not stupid either. I know I can get undercut by Amar'e Stoudemire and fall and break my other elbow. In my position, with the physicality that we take, I'd definitely listen to offers." 

The Warriors might want to focus on extending the contract of another player on their roster first, though. Per Spotrac, Stephen Curry's contract is also set to expire after the 2016-17 season.
