Axwell: Early Life and Music Career
Axwell, born Axel Christofer Hedfors on December 18, 1977 in Lund, Sweden, developed an interest in music at a young age. He taught himself how to play the drums when he was just nine years old. At 13, he began creating music on his computer as Quazar, and released acid techno tracks made with FastTracker 2 and NoiseTracker.
He attended Faladsgarden Elementary School in Lund before pursuing his passion for music.
Axwell’s Early Career and Rise to Fame
Axwell started his music career by remixing songs by other artists, with his first official remix released in 2000. Some of his early remixes include Usher’s “Burn,” NERD’s “Maybe,” and Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous.” He also produced Jetlag’s track “So Right” in 2002 and released a track under his own name called “Lead Guitar.” Additionally, he signed to Soulfuric Recordings with artist Isabel Fructuose as the duo Mambana, releasing three tracks together.
In 2003, Axwell started recording for the London record label suSU under the name Starbeach. He released the track “Wait a Minute,” which became a hit in the club scene. The following year, he released “Feel the Vibe” with vocals by Tara McDonald, which peaked at number one in the UK Dance Singles Chart.
Axwell continued working on various club remixes, reworking tracks by Rasmus Faber and Roger Sanchez.
