What is the Boom Boom Room?

The Boom Boom Room made its debut in Bachelor In Paradise season 7 but two seasons later, it is nowhere to be seen.

But what exactly is it? Well, it’s pretty self-explanatory if you know what “boom boom” means. Urban Dictionary claims it is a slang term for physical intimacy, meaning ABC stars sneak off to the Boom Boom Room to get down to business.

However, cameras continue rolling in the Boom Boom Room, meaning fans can see glimpses of couples’ private time. Of course, they won’t air footage that goes too far.

The name is said to have been invented by the show’s hopeful singles. It’s possible that they were inspired by the MTV dating reality show, Are You The One, which had the same concept and the same name.

BIP viewers are seemingly missing the action as one fan asked about the status of the Boom Boom Room on Reddit.

“Not a mention of it. Before all the heavy making out in this ep I was thinking how vanilla it’s been as far as physical intimacy,” they said. ” I don’t think I’ve seen most of these couples kiss other than a quick moment on dates. Not that I necessarily need to see people grinding all over each other but feel like BIP used to be much more h**** than it is now.”

However, some are pleased that the concept has seemingly been ditched. No BIP stars nor ABC have confirmed whether the room has officially been axed. It may have been used but not broadcasted.

“I was never a fan of that part of BIP so I’m fine with it not being a thing,” one said.

A second criticized: “Thank goodness it was so trashy.”

Maurissa Gunn faced criticism for steamy date with Riley Christian

In season 7, Maurissa Gunn was subject to hateful messages after cameras captured her first date with Riley Christian. After the intimate date, it was clear sparks were flying and both parties didn’t want the night to end.

One passionate kiss later, the pair headed to the Boom Boom Room to continue their hot and heavy antics but not all fans agreed with Gunn’s actions.

Maurissa was presumed to have slept with Riley, and she later took to Instagram to defend herself.

“There are other women that may not be as nonchalant or as indifferent as I am, to handle the kind of criticism that I’ve been receiving, and it’s not okay,” she said.

“There shouldn’t be a double standard regarding which gender can openly like it [physical intimacy], and which gender should be timid about their enjoyment. What’s even harder to believe is that the majority of the negativity and hate is coming from women.”

Some fans suggest Maurissa’s experience may have influenced future BIP stars to steer clear of the Boom Boom Room.
