To help you find the best eye doctor near you, we collected the Google and Yelp patient reviews and customer satisfaction data for eye care practices listed on All About Vision’s doctor locator.
Note that reviews for an eye care practice change every day. This ranking of the best eye care practices by state is based on reviews as of mid-September 2019.
Patient comments about their experiences at eye care practices are a good starting point to help you discover which qualities you find most important in your optometrist or ophthalmologist. And if you are an eye care practice that didn’t make this list, encourage your patients to offer feedback on your office, its staff and your overall focus on the patient.

What makes a best eye care practice
By mining the reviews of eye doctors on All About Vision, we found some common themes. The best eye care practices across the country are those that make the patient feel comfortable, heard and valued.
For many people, having an eye exam is a nerve-wracking experience. Offices with welcoming staff and a calming environment were noticed and appreciated by visitors.
Additionally, patients who claimed that the doctor took time to listen to their concerns and answer their questions said they were more likely to return in the future.
When you’re choosing your eye doctor, location matters, of course, but so does the individual attention and quality of care that you will receive. This focus on you, the patient, is important, whether you are having your eyes examined or getting a new pair of eyeglasses.
