Michael Poulsen is a Danish vocalist and guitarist, known for Zulu Awards ’10 (2010), Go ‘morgen Danmark (1996) and Gutterdammerung (2016). He is currently the rhythm guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the band Volbeat.

On April 22, 2006, Poulsen performed with some of Elvis Presley’s studio musicians in Copenhagen. Volbeat’s sophomore record Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil and their third effort Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood performed straight to number 1 in the Danish charts.

Poulsen later showed his affinity for Social Distortion and, taking cues from a ‘new influence’, created the distinctive Volbeat sound.

In 2012, Poulsen scored for Relapse Records’ reissue of The Death’s 1990 album Spiritual Healing, which he considers one of his favorite albums.
