Boil water advisory for Fairburn lifted
David Craig Officials said a third-party contractor damaged a hydrant on a main water transmission line near Jones Road and Highway 92 in Fairburn, causing Monday's advisory.
FAIRBURN, Ga. — A boil water advisory has now been lifted for all Fairburn residents and businesses on Tuesday, according to the Department of Watershed Management.
Watershed officials added after sampling the water system, they found the water was not contaminated. In their latest release officials also said drinking water met Environmental Protection Agency standards.
The now-expired boil water advisory went into effect on Monday after city officials said a third-party contractor damaged a hydrant on a main water transmission line near Jones Road and Highway 92 in Fairburn and a water main break had to be repaired.
Fairburn officials took to social media earlier Monday, where they announced all city facilities closed because of the water main break. Officials also announced Fairburn, along with several other neighboring cities, in which they did not clarify which cities, were experiencing little to no water pressure.
"DWM is committed to protecting the safety and well-being of residents across the City of Atlanta and the City of Fairburn. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the current issue," officials said in their latest release.
