Former boxing star Floyd Mayweather called Will Smith every day for 10 days after the famous altercation between Smith and comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Rock made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett, during his speech at the Oscars and it ended with Smith coming up on stage and hitting Rock in the face before heading back to his seat and shouting 'keep my wife's name out your mouth'.

Smith won an Academy award later on in the evening and had to come on stage and apologise for his actions. He then went through a very tough time after the event and was not seen in public for a long time

Constant support

He has now revealed in a video obtained by TMZ Sports that it was actually Mayweather who offered him a huge amount of support in that period, ringing him constantly.

"I want to say something also about Floyd. So, we've met each other, we've seen each other around, but we weren't like, friends," Smith said.

"And, the day after the Oscars, for ten days he called me every day.

"And, he was like, 'Ay, you know you the champ, right? You good? You know you the champ, right? I want you to hear my voice say it.'

"That was every day he called me ... and it's like, that's my dude forever right there."

Smith later made a public apology to Rock for what he had done, in which he said: "I am human and I made a mistake and I'm trying not to think of myself as a piece of s**"."

The actor did reach out to Rock after the apology but he has never hard back from the comedian.
