Brad Pitt, the Oscar-winning actor, has been revealed by Elvira star Cassandra Peterson to have let his 105-year-old neighbor live rent-free on his former $39m LA estate for years. Peterson, who was a next-door neighbor with Pitt after selling him her home in 1994, explained in a recent interview with People that Pitt had acquired surrounding properties, one of which belonged to a man in his early nineties, whose wife had passed away.

Pitt allowed the elderly man, named John, to become a tenant on the estate without paying any rent until he died. "It was kind of funny because John lived to be 105. I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there till he dies, which might be any minute now," Peterson joked.

Peterson described Pitt as being "kind and sweet" to her throughout their years as neighbors. She recalled an instance when she saw the star shirtless and punching a bag in preparation for the 1999 film Fight Club, saying: "I remember he goes, 'Hey, how are you?' and I'm like, 'Huh?' I couldn't talk. I was turning red. I felt like I was fainting. He's just so stunningly, stunningly handsome - and nice, to top it off."

Last month, Pitt sold his compound for $39 million after owning and remodeling it for nearly three decades. The property was originally listed for $45 million in January, but the price dropped for reasons that remain unclear. Pitt famously lived in the home with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six children prior to their 2016 split, but he also lived there alone for many years.

The Fight Club actor is now making the move from Los Angeles to a $40 million home in the small beach city of Carmel in Northern California. This came just ahead of the April 1 start date for Los Angeles' new "mansion tax," which is reportedly the reason for the recent uptick in A-listers fleeing the area.
