Carl Wilson was a musician, composer, and founding member of The Beach Boys. Born in Hawthorne, California in 1946, he became the lead guitar player and occasional lead vocalist for the band. His father and band manager bought him a Fender Jaguar guitar when he turned 15, and he played on many of The Beach Boys’ hits, including “God Only Knows” and “Good Vibrations”.

Carl also produced albums for other artists and provided backing vocals for Chicago, Elton John, and David Lee Roth. He released two solo albums in the 1980s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Beach Boys in 1988.

In 1997, Carl was diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent chemotherapy treatment while continuing to perform. He passed away on February 6, 1998, at the age of 51.
