Actress, teacher and casting director

Cecily Adams, actress, teacher and casting director, died March 3 in Los Angeles after a four-month battle with lung cancer. She was 46.

Best known for her recurring role as acerbic feminist Moogie on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” Adams also appeared on shows such as “Just Shoot Me,” “Murder One,” “Murphy Brown” and “Home Improvement.”

Until her death, she served as casting director for “That ’70s Show,” following assignments casting series such as “Third Rock From the Sun” and “Eerie, Indiana” and features including “American Heart” and “Home Room.”

Adams was the daughter of “Get Smart” star Don Adams and singer Adelaide Adams. A native of Queens, New York, she was raised in Silver Spring, Md., and Beverly Hills.

She attended Beverly Hills High and was a theater student at UC Irvine. Adams was a longtime member of Theater West, acting in and directed many plays. She studied improvisational comedy at the Groundlings and was a member of the Acme Comedy Theater in Los Angeles. She was also an acting coach.

Adams is survived by her husband, actor-director Jim Beaver; a daughter; brother Sean Adams; sisters Carolyn Steele, Christine Adams, Cathy Metchik, Paramount TV exec Stacey Adams and Beige Adams; and her parents.
