What happened between George Russell and Max Verstappen?
Max Verstappen fumed at George Russell after the Mercedes driver made contact with the Dutchman’s Red Bull during the sprint race of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend. Following the incident, Verstappen confronted the Briton at parc ferme after the race before going on to slam him in his post-race interviews.
In one of his post-race interviews, the Red Bull driver said (as quoted by crash.net), “[Defending the position] is not allowed because ‘Princess George’ is there. At the end of the day, that’s his problem too“. While Russell defended himself by stating that he had ‘cold tires,’ Verstappen was having none of this excuse.
The Dutchman referred to the incident as ‘inexcusable’ and made it clear that the Briton was just ‘clumsy’. Ever since this altercation took place between the two, F1 fans have posted several memes of the two on social media. And the edited image of Verstappen and Russell at the Meta Gala is one of the many memes that fans have put out.
