IPL 2023 winners – betting: Dhoni gives Super Kings double delight

The IPL began with Chennai Super Kings way down the bookmakers’ betting order at 17/2 – only the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad were at longer odds – but became the competition’s joint most successful side after a thrilling final.

Legendary wicketkeeper Dhoni was out first ball in the 13th over, and many had already expected that this tournament would mark the end of the 41-year-old’s career. But he announced afterwards that he will play again next year, giving fans a double delight.

Gujarat Titans, who were only formed in October 2021, had been aiming for back-to-back IPL titles. But the pre-tournament favourites lost twice to the Super Kings in the playoffs.
