Chris Cooley is getting a crash course in things not working out.

The beloved tight end was recently released by the Washington Redskins, and there are now reports that he is divorcing his wife of four years, Christy Oglevee. 

The Washington Post reports that the NFL free agent filed for divorce August 29, but has been separated from his wife since January. 

The good news is that the couple has come to terms on a settlement, despite not having a prenuptial agreement. 

Here is what Oglevee's lawyer had to say about a divorce that seems as amicable as these things could be. 

Both Christy and Chris worked hard to be reasonable with each other so they could settle this matter without litigation. They are both to be credited for reaching a resolution that permits their private lives to remain private.

The report tells us not to expect anything "juicy" to come out from the proceedings and that this will remain a quiet and private matter. If there is anything positive to take form this, it's that the divorce will be civilized, something not usually afforded high-profile separations. 

The two met back in 2005 when Oglevee was a cheerleader with the Redskins. She was soon fired for fraternizing with an athlete, but gained a fiancee who then signed a $30 million contract, as the Washington Post notes. 

That lovely romance has come to an end at the same time that a terrific and entertaining career with the Redskins has as well. 

Relationships are fleeting, even for a hardworking, affable athlete like Chris Cooley.
