Connie Louise Johnson – Metropolitan Funeral
Andrew Mckinney Connie Louise Johnson, born on January 19, 1951, to Claude and Isabelle Johnson, was called home to reside with her Heavenly Father on October 23, 2023. Raised in Cavalier Manor along with her three younger siblings: Claude, Jr., Yvette, and Carlton, she was proud to call Hancock Avenue her home up until the day of her passing.
A graduate of the Virginia Public School System, Connie was happy to boast that she was a mighty, mighty Greyhound, representing I.C. Norcom High School, class of 1969. Connie went on to Norfolk State University, graduating in 1973 with a BA in English and a minor in Journalism. After college Connie gave 34 years of service as a civil servant with the Defense Logistics Agency (18 years) and Department of the Navy (16 years).
Giving her life to Christ at a young age, Connie was a member of Grove Baptist Church, where she joyfully served as an usher. Being a faithful servant, she was also an active member of The United Order of Tents, until her health did not allow her to do so.
Connie’s hobbies included music (gospel and Motown Classics), eating good food, occasionally traveling, shopping, and spending time with her niece, LaTonya, whom she affectionately called the daughter she never had.
Preceded in death by her parents, Claude M. and Isabelle S. Johnson, Sr., Connie leaves to cherish her memory: two brothers: Claude M. Johnson, Jr. (Carole, deceased) and Carlton Johnson; a sister, Yvette J. Simmons (Johnnie E., deceased); three nieces and their children: LaTonya Price (son, Langston) of Mitchellville, MD; Carmica Green (son, LeSean and daughters: Carmen and Carlee) of Jacksonville, NC; Carla R. Johnson (daughter, Kyla and sons: Kenyon and Kahlil); two uncles: Johnny G. Johnson and Arecella V. Johnson of Fresno, CA; and host of other family and friends.
Connie was a generous, kind hearted, and loving person to all. She will be deeply missed until we meet again.
