Dakota Seaman's Men's Ice Hockey Recruiting Profile
William Burgess Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to play hockey at a NCAA school and then continue on to some sort of pro hockey. I started taking hockey seriously in Grade 7 this is when I began working out and being on the ice as much as possible. In my last year of Junior High I decided the public school I was at (very small with limits on classes and programs) wasn't going to get me to level I needed to be at for any chance at scholarships or even just attending a great post secondary school. So I switched schools to St. Mary's Catholic High School. It was the best decision I could have made for myself. I work hard for my grades but I know I need to if I want to reach my goals.
I wish every coach would talk to potential players ... if they did they would quickly learn that I am determined, focused and a typical 15 year old. School, hockey, family are whats important to me. My choice will always be doing something that will get me closer to my goal over hanging with friends or playing video games. I know to succeed I must sacrifice and work hard. I have no interest in video games, partying or the so called normal teenage boy behaviors.
Not only am I a great hockey player but I am also a ref for 4 years now, so I have learnt to see the game from both sides of the game. I prefer playing centre but this year I have been playing mostly left wing, however I am typically a right wing. Can play all three positions now. I am an aggressive, fast player. I typically am the play maker on the ice, and have an amazing shot. (Fast & Hard) At 13 I started practicing on a regular basis with my local Junior B team. In 2016 I was Affiliated as a 15 yr old and have played all my allowable games with them. Today I play for Brockville Tikis Jr CCHL 2 team we are currently in first place in our division and I fully expect we will go far in the playoffs. At the end of regular season I will be 4 games short from playing 100 junior level games in approx two seasons.
I have a few ideas of what I would like to do for a career but not positive yet. Currently doing a careers class right now that will hopefully help me with that. I have amazing support at my high school and staff that will help me reach my academic goals.
There is nothing I want more then to play at a high level of hockey and I believe the right school can help me get there.
