Devin Chandler Death: What Caused His Sudden Demise?
Emily Wong Authorities have verified Devin Chandler death on Sunday, 13th November 2022, in a shooting that took place late at night in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Three members of the Cavaliers football team perished in the shooting, including Devin Chandler, who moved to the University of Virginia in the midst of the previous season, local police confirmed on Monday.
He had previously lived in Huntersville and had attended Hough High School.
Chandler participated in the school’s varsity football team as a junior at the university in Charlottesville, Virginia. The other two victims were also members of the team.
Chandler was a member of the Wisconsin roster in 2021 and participated in four games for the Badgers that year before transferring six weeks into the season.
Lavel Davis, Jr, a wide receiver, and DeSean Perry, a linebacker, were the two additional UVA football players murdered in the incident.
The school’s president, Jim Ryan, announced Chandler’s passing at a news conference on Monday.
According to officials, the incident happened on a charter bus that had just arrived from a field trip to watch a play in Washington, D.C. The shooting also injured two other people.
Ryan was clearly under stress and described the shootings by saying, ‘This morning, the entire campus community is grieving. My heart is torn for the victims, their families, and everyone who knew and cared about them.’
After the shooting, which occurred around 10:30 p.m, Sunday in a parking garage on the northern portion of the campus, he was armed and dangerous and on the run for several hours.
Several sources claim that Jones started shooting at a bus that was leaving a Washington, D.C, field trip for students.
Following the incident, officials launched a vigorous search for the perpetrator, later identified as Christopher Darnell Jones Jr, searching the campus building by building as students took cover.
Authorities claimed that former UVA football player Christopher Darnell Jones Jr, the suspect, was apprehended early Monday. The reason behind the shooting has not been revealed yet.

Jim Leonhard, the interim head coach, paid respect to the late wide receiver after learning of Devin Chandler’s death, saying ‘Chandler had a lasting impact on his teammates, even after he left UW, which is a credit to the sort of person he was.’

The statement said, ‘His personality was infectious and he was a joy to be around. Our group is in deep sorrow for him and his family. My thoughts go out to his family as well as the Virginia football community.’
In addition to extending support and counseling services to current student-athletes or athletic department staff members, McIntosh said the department would assist in any manner possible.
