Driver arrested for hitting people outside bowling alley
Sophia Edwards A car speeding away from Pin Strikes hit at least two pedestrians and a police officer.
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A man has been arrested for intentionally driving into a group of people outside a Clayton County bowling alley early Tuesday.
Clayton County police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams said the incident started with a fight inside the Pin Strikes bowling alley on Mt. Zion Road in Stockbridge. A police officer saw the car hit the pedestrians, ordered the car to stop and when it didn't, fired one shot.
Investigators on the scene said the officer was also hit by the car. No one was seriously injured.
The suspect, 37-year-old Mark Anthony Pate, turned himself in to Clayton County police later Tuesday morning. He faces a number of charges, including aggravated assault, obstruction, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
