Eagles Rumors: Parris Campbell Agrees to 1-Year Contract After Giants Stint | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Mia Lopez The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly agreed to a contract with wide receiver Parris Campbell in free agency on Thursday.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Campbell will sign a one-year deal with Philly after spending last season with the New York Giants.
Campbell, 26, joins DeVante Parker as a new addition to an Eagles receiving corps headlined by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Originally selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Ohio State, Campbell spent his first four NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
Campbell showed some flashes of brilliance, particularly in 2022 when he set career highs with 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns.
Durability was a major issue for Campbell in Indy, though, as he was limited to a total of just 15 games over his first three seasons.
However, after watching Campbell appear in all 17 games in 2022, the Giants signed him to a one-year, $4.7 million contract in free agency.
Given that the Giants lacked a clear go-to wideout, there was hope that Campbell would be able to establish himself as the No. 1 receiver in New York, but that never came to fruition.
Campbell started just three of the 12 games he appeared in and had a limited role, finishing with 20 catches for 104 yards and no touchdowns.
While Brown and Smith are clearly quarterback Jalen Hurts' top two options in the Philadelphia passing game, the rest of the receiving group is seemingly undergoing a significant makeover.
Along with Parker, the Eagles are bringing in Campbell in free agency, while Quez Watkins, Julio Jones and Olamide Zaccheaus all remain free agents after being part of last year's team.
Campbell will be joined by at least one familiar face in Philly after the Eagles signed former Giants running back Saquon Barkley in free agency as well.
While Campbell doesn't figure to be much more than a third or fourth receiver at best in Philadelphia, he brings some field-stretching ability to the table and gives Hurts another deep threat.
He also has a chance to be more productive than he was last season in New York even in a limited role since the Eagles' offense is far more dynamic.
