Emily Leonard's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile
William Harris Personal Statement
My name is Emily Leonard and my collegiate goal as a student/athlete is to attend a great university and earn a degree in the area of athletic training. I also play volleyball with the skills I’ve learned after playing 2 years of high school, club, and beach. I believe I would be an excellent candidate for your program because I understand and appreciate the rewards that come from hard work and take great pride in what I do academically and athletically.
My first year playing was my freshman year of high school. I competed at Edgewood Jr/Sr High on the junior varsity team and was voted MVP of the season. In high school I was an outside and right side hitter and sometimes played DS. I started playing club volleyball my sophomore year at Volleytech Academy and was captain and setter of my 16U team. I also committed to Volleytech’s beach team in the summer of 2016.
I am extremely excited to be making the transition to Merritt Island High school for my junior and senior year to participate in their outstanding volleyball program. My coach, Angie Patrick, has supervised our off-season training three times a week. We condition in the weight room and then run skill drills to become better players. I also practice twice a week at Pelican Beach for beach volleyball and have three tournaments during our season. Playing beach has resulted in me becoming stronger and more competitive indoor.
I am an active community volunteer with my parents, assisting with the operations and maintenance of my brothers youth football field. I helped with the concessions and with their fund raising activities. I have a strong sense of community that was passed on by my parents who are very active in Brevard County.
I would be honored to be selected as a student athlete to represent your university and would bring my strong work ethic and dedication to your university to achieve my goal of earning my degree and the team’s goal of competing at the highest level possible.
