Real Madrid is in mourning following the sudden death of María Ángeles Sandoval, better known as Pitina, the wife of current club president, Florentino Pérez.

The 62 year old wife of Real Madrid's most senior director had beaten cancer, which she was diagnosed with several years ago, and celebrated the winning of the La Liga championship title alongside the rest of the Real Madrid fans just a few days ago. It seems that the cause of death was a heart attack. María Ángeles Sandoval had always been an avid Real Madrid supporter.

The messages of condolence quickly began to arrive at the president's home, and at the club itself. One of the first was from player Álvaro Arbeloa who wrote on Twitter: "my deepest sympathies go to our president Florentino Pérez and his family. Stay strong".
