George E. Branch, Jr. – Metropolitan Funeral
Emily Wong George Edward Branch, Jr slipped into entered rest on August 19, 2022. George was born on July 2, 1937 in Richmond, VA. to the late George E. Branch, Sr and Bessie Fells Branch.
George was affectionately known as “SKEETER”. He was educated in the Richmond Public School System and a graduate of Armstrong High School class of 1956. He joined the United Sates Navy upon graduating high school entering as a Navy Recruiter and retired as a Machinist’s Mate Chief in 1975. He also retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (Shop 06) after twenty years as a Maintenance Machinist. He went on to pursue his education at Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool and was a member of the Portsmouth Sports Fisherman, Inc. for many years.
George was the seventh child of nine. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings. George leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Joan G. Branch and four sons G.E. III, Gregory, Garvin and George O. Branch (Booker), his three sisters, Geralis Stevens of New York, Shirley Bryson and Diane Branch – Thompson, both of Richmond Virginia, his grandsons JaJuan Tillman and Antwuan Branch, 1 great-grand child Londyn Tillman and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
