Grace Schwartz's Women's Ice Hockey Recruiting Profile
Mia Lopez Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Gracie Schwartz. I have been playing hockey since I was six years old, but I started skating when I was about three. Ever since I got off the ice after my very first practice not only did I love the sport more than anything, but I knew that I wanted to play in college. I am looking to major in Sports Medicine and Fitness Studies. I am on the ice almost everyday and on my off days I am outside working out and shooting pucks.
Along with hockey, school has always been my priority. Although I miss a lot of school for hockey, my teachers have always been understanding because they know I always make up the work in a timely manner. My school is very focused on Academics, which has forced me to learn time management and responsibility. I have not only noticed growth in both of those distinct qualities in the classroom, but also they have helped me on the ice tremendously, making me a better hockey player.
In my perspective, everyday is a great day to play hockey, and everyday I wake up looking forward to getting better at what I love. I feel as though I am very coachable and I value feedback and advise on my skills and play. To me, a coach and a player work together and "coach" each other as the player progresses. Another important aspect I am looking for in a college team is team unity. That is something that I have stressed my entire career. The support a team has for each other on the ice, is just as important as the support off the ice. I feel it is important to bring each other up, support each others' strengths and weaknesses, and have fun together! Being on a team isn't just about wins and losses, but the character and personalities of the team as a whole. A team is successful when there is valuable unity.
