On a fateful Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Versailles-Yorkshire and Bulcher roads, a devastating T-bone collision took the life of 20-year-old Hannah Gehret from Versailles. 

The incident occurred when Gehret’s gray Honda Accord failed to yield at a stop sign on Bulcher Road, colliding with a tan Chevrolet Silverado driven by Steven Homan (29) from Minster.

The harrowing accident

The collision propelled both vehicles off the roadway and into a nearby field, resulting in Homan’s truck tipping onto its side. 

Homan and his juvenile passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were able to exit their vehicle independently. 

Tragically, Hannah Gehret was trapped in her Honda and had to be extricated using mechanical means. 

Despite the efforts of first responders, she succumbed to her injuries and tragically lost her life at the scene.

Launching the investigation

Upon the occurrence of the accident, multiple agencies, including the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Osgood Rescue, Osgood Fire Department, CareFlight, and the Darke County Coroner’s Office, swiftly responded to conduct a thorough investigation. 

As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released to the public.
