Healthy Benefits Plus Program: How to check your balance?
Michael King The CareEssentials Card 2023, formerly known as the Healthy Eating Card, is a benefit for CarePlus members enrolled in a CareNeeds Plus (HMO D-SNP) plan. To qualify for CareNeeds Plus, you must have Medicare and Medicaid.
Your CareEssentials Card from CarePlus allows you to buy everything you need. You can choose to use your allowance on many of the items you find most helpful to your well-being.
This is how your CareEssentials Card can help you. Use it to:
Buy food, over-the-counter products and personal care products at authorized stores or online.
Pay for pet supplies such as pet food, toys and flea shampoo.
Pay all or part of your bills, such as utilities, rent or mortgage.
If you haven't received your CareEssentials Card in the mail by the end of this year, you can call Member Services to confirm your mailing address and request a new card. Member Services can also tell you how to use an electronic version of your card through the application.
Your CareEssentials Card allotment is automatically reloaded each month. Use your monthly allotment before the end of each month. It will not carry over to the next month. Plan benefits may change on January 1 of each year. In September, we will mail you an Annual Notice of Changes to let you know of any benefit changes for the next plan year.
You are free to spend your allowance on the approved products and services you need. Your benefit only covers approved items up to the amount covered by your card. You may use another form of payment to cover the remaining balance or non-approved items.
