Personal Statement

I am seeking a collegiate experience that will combine my passion for soccer as well as my desire to build my intellectual and technical knowledge to contribute to the community in which I will reside.  Outside of school, I work at an auto shop and I volunteer in the toddler nursery at our church.  I enjoy fishing and traveling to new places.  I have diverse professional interests including chemical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering,  or environmental science.  I enjoy and am fascinated by science but I also enjoy the banter of challenging discussions and theories.  The college I seek will allow me to explore those interests while the faculty, teammates, and classmates will challenge me to be the best version of myself as I evolve during my college years.  I enjoy being a part of a team and have found and been told that I have natural leadership characteristics both on and off the pitch. My coaches play me at Center Back but the past two years they have moved me from Center Back to Attacking Mid or  Defensive Mid based on game situation. There is a change in the energy level of the team when I'm moved from defense to offense,  there's a sense of comfort for the team when I'm on defense, and excitement and energy when I’m moved forwards. It is an honor to be able to play the various positions and a humbling experience to have the team place their trust in me.  My family, friends, and God are important parts of who I am today and who I want to be tomorrow.  I hope to have the opportunity to meet with you to see if your team and school would be a great fit for what we are both seeking.
