Brothers used to play together in the same little league team. However, the Manoah brothers stopped playing on the same little league team when Alek was about 12.

In little league,  Alek Manoah's brother Erik's pitches were rocketing to the backstop, hit batters, and bouncers in front of the plate. Everyone would be scared of being his catcher.

The teammates decided to make Alek Erik's catcher. Before a match,  Alek told his father that he would catch him and was not scared.

But on the first pitch,  without gloves, the ball hammered into Alek's chest as a bullet creating a momentary panic situation for the Manoahs’ parents. 

The incident taught Manoah to wear the chest protector and mask before setting up behind the plate. Afterward, he was Erik's catcher. 

Despite this,  their path split after playing three years alongside a team. In the 2014 draft out of South Dade high school, Erik signed his contract with the New York Mets as a 13th-round pick.

Blue Jay's rookies' sensation, Alek Manoah's brother Erik, spent most of last season with the Twins organization in a minor league.

Additionally, In 2019, the Twins signed RHP Erik Manoah to a minor league contract.

The American athlete will pitch out of the bullpen in the upper minors of the Nationals system this season.
