“I Know I’ll Be There” Wins Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year

The team of Karen Peck & New River was formed in January of 1991 when Karen teamed up with her husband, Rickey and her sister, Susan to form the group. Over the years, the musical team has shared the Gospel around the world through songs, traveling throughout the US and Canada, as well as Mexico, Honduras, Israel, and Europe. Their music continues to evolve throughout the past three decades and they have established a name in the Southern Gospel Music. They blend their Southern Gospel roots with country, as well as progressive musical styling.

Karen Peck & New River have inspired many lives with their outstanding songs. “I Know I’ll Be There,” written by Karen Peck Gooch, Dave Clark, and Wayne Haun is no exception to that.
The song is an absolute declaration of faith and acceptance of God’s promises. That the only Christian’s destination afterlife is in heaven with Christ.

“The greatest gift that you can give to your children, and for those listening that have grandchildren, is…give them that assurance that you know Jesus and that you’re going to be in heaven when this life is over.” Invite them – no, lovingly urge them in no uncertain terms – to be sure they, too, accept (or have accepted) Christ so that they’ll see you again there.”

The 50th celebration was a powerful evening paying tribute to 50 years of special appearances and sensational stage highlights over the decades. Performances representing modern Rock, Rap/Hip Hop, Pop/Contemporary, Inspirational, Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Country, Worship and more made up the evening praising the rich musical diversity from the past, present and future of Gospel and Christian music. Nominees were determined by GMA’s professional members, and winners were voted on by the entire GMA membership.
