Audio recordings that a Florida journalist said she made of Jared Fogle across five years are the focus of the "Dr. Phil" talk show Thursday and Friday. Rochelle Herman-Walrond, the host of a syndicated radio show on health topics, told TV's Phil McGraw that Fogle discussed his interest in sex with children and sexual encounters the former Zionsville resident had with minors. The "Dr. Phil" episodes devoted to Fogle's case air at 3 p.m. on 11Alive.

McGraw's thoughts: In a tease to Friday's episode, Phil McGraw said Fogle represents a "rogue's gallery of deviant behavior." When introducing today's episode, McGraw said the show delivered an important message to parents because a predator can be someone adults "least expect." He said Rochelle Herman-Walrond made it her "life's mission" to bring Fogle to justice. Herman-Walrond, who characterized Fogle as a "monster," said her role as "undercover asset" lasted years because authorities said Fogle wasn't the "main target" of their investigation.

First visit: Herman-Walrond said she met Indianapolis native Fogle when he visited her radio show in 2006 and they visited a middle school in Sarasota later that day. At the school, Fogle mentioned "how hot middle-school girls are," according to Herman Walrond. Asked by McGraw for her reaction, Herman-Walrond said, "Did he really just say that to me?" Later that year, Herman-Walrond accepted another booking of Fogle on her show because she "wanted to follow (her) instincts." Eventually, they exchanged cellphone numbers and she made her first secret recording of their conversation in spring 2007. "I never brought up children" in conversation, she said.

'Out of reach': McGraw complimented Herman-Walrond for engaging Fogle in conversation while also staying "out of reach" of criminal activity. McGraw asked Herman-Walrond if she felt like she wanted to take three showers after their phone conversations. "I certainly did feel that way," she said. "He had no filter whatsoever." On the episode billed as "From Subway Sandwich King to Child Sex Scandal," Herman-Walrond said Fogle suggested trips to "crazy clubs" in Chicago and also flights to international sites such as Thailand to connect with minors.

Fake party: McGraw played a recording in which Herman-Walrond complied with Fogle's request to describe children she might introduce to him at a pool party. McGraw noted that the children did not actually exist before Herman-Walrond suggested a shy 7-year-old girl from a "broken family," an 8-year-old girl with "tomboy" attributes and a 10-year-old boy "full of energy" on the recording. Fogle asked Herman-Walrond which child she believed was "most promising."

Jared's plan: One recording detailed Fogle's method for approaching children. He told Herman-Walrond that "all ages" appealed to him. In a party setting, he looked for children who "give you the glance." He encouraged Herman-Walrond to wear a "thong bikini" and try to lure a boy into a situation where he, Herman-Walrond and Fogle were isolated.
