Jessica Allen's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile
Emily Wong Personal Statement
My name is Jessica Allen, and for as long as I can remember, I have played some sort of sport. I put energy and enthusiasm into sports, and they gave confidence and focus back to me. My active athletic side of life was just the balance my stationary student side needed. Soccer and softball quickly gave way to the one sport that rang true with me, volleyball. I have played on my school team every season from 6th grade (made Varsity Jr High in 7th, and Sr High in Freshman year), and my club play began in 8th grade. I started out as a left side hitter, but I have played as Libero/DS now for several seasons, and I really enjoy it. While there is more to life than just volleyball, it provides the physical outlet that makes me whole.
The other aspects of my life are my studies and my family. I am very close with my younger sister and my parents. We do everything together, and they are all very supportive. I love math and science, such that I am inclined to pursue studies in something like engineering or mathematics while playing collegiate level volleyball. But I also have interests in fields such as marketing, nutrition, and physical therapy. My dream would be to work in civil engineering as a profession, and work in a local club volleyball organization in my spare time coaching girls. It would be so nice to give back to the world that helped influence and nurture me by building infrastructure by day and shaping young lives at night.
