Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla's trick to avoid getting embarrassed when dresses accidentally flow up in the wind
Sophia Edwards During a tour of North America in 2011, Kate, who was then the Princess of Wales, encountered an unintentional fashion mishap while accompanied by Prince William.
While standing on a windy runway, the back of her yellow Jenny Packham dress was blown up, prompting Kate to quickly use her hands to push it back down.
"The Duchess wore the dress at an airport during her North America tour, and the wind blowing up the runway revealed more of the royal legs than intended," said Jenny Packham, the designer of the dress.
"Well, I didn't anticipate it being worn in such windy conditions, but I will consider adding more weight to future designs, just in case."
Not unique
This incident was not the only time Kate experienced such an occurrence. It also happened with her pink Alexander McQueen dress at Princess Eugenie's wedding in 2018.
Additionally, Queen Camilla faced a similar wardrobe malfunction in 2015 during Princess Charlotte's christening. As she exited the Church of St. Mart Magdelent on the Sandringham estate, a gust of wind caused her pale blue dress to blow.

Daena Borrowman from jewellerybox explained to Express.co.uk that since then, it is likely that both Kate and Camilla have been incorporating weights into the hems of their dresses to prevent such incidents from happening again.
"Pennies or small weights are sewed into the hemlines of dresses to avoid them being blown up by a strong gust of British wind," Borrowman claimed.
"In October 2018, Kate wore an Alexander McQueen pink structured gown to Princess Eugenie's wedding.
"Kate has shown her love for the British brand over the years, choosing to wear them to various occasions during her time as a royal.
"While attending the wedding, the wind began to catch Kate's dress, but with the help of Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Kate calmly smiled at the moment.
"According to royal insiders, it is common for royal women to have small weights sewn into the hems of their skirts and coats to avoid wardrobe malfunctions and allow them to fit perfectly.
"It has been said that the late Queen passed down her tricks to Kate, as she too would have circular lead curtain weights sewn into all of her handmade outfits."
