Ever since Lewis Hamilton came under the starlight in 2007, after he made an impactful debut in Formula 1, he has never been short of dating some extraordinary women from the field of fashion and entertainment.

However, none of his relationships has transformed into a marriage. At 38, while most of his contemporaries are well-settled with their wives and children, he is still relishing a single life.

Thus, there arises the mystery of what led to Hamilton never having a woman with whom he could commit a marriage. The seven-time world champion once answered.

Lewis Hamilton once revealed why he doesn’t have a wife or girlfriend

Being the top athlete in any sport takes a lot of sacrifices, and to prolong greatness, it asks for even more compromises. That’s what Hamilton told to reason his single life.

“I’m a workaholic. I don’t have time for it,” the Mercedes driver said to the Times. “When you travel as much as I do, it’s hard to keep up a relationship, so I’m of the mindset that I’m not going to do that until I’ve stopped and no longer have to be so single-minded.”

Hamilton, for a long time, has been without a partner. However, he reveals he wishes to have kids, but at the same time wants to be a present dad, which according to him, can’t happen when he’s travelling to 23 places in a year.

Hamilton’s first girlfriend with significant popularity was Danielle Lloyd back in 2002. The couple shared a romantic life for over six months, but it soon died down because of their long-distance relationship.

Yet, they still remained friends after that, and Hamilton was there for her Miss England winning campaign in 2004. Lloyd is now married to Michael O’Neill, an electrician from Birmingham and has kids together.

Jodie Ma (2003-2007)

While racing in F1, Hamilton finally stumbled upon a person from the motorsport realm. After Ma, Hamilton reportedly dated McLaren’s doctor Aki Hinsta’s daughter Lotta Hinsta.

Apart from being the daughter of someone with a high profile in McLaren, Hinsta was also a former Miss Finland. Despite getting caught together several times on camera, Hinsta always claimed they were nothing more than friends.

Vivian Burkhardt (2008)

Hamilton reportedly had a brief fling with Vivian Burkhardt, the former miss world. She claims that she was invited to the then McLaren star’s home in Switzerland once, and they were also spotted together on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival. But their romance was short-lived as Hamilton gave his heart away to Nicole Scherzinger.

In 2015, when Rihanna had an ugly split with ASAP Rocky, she was regularly spotted with Hamilton going for dinner together. Reports got serious when Hamilton went with her to Barbados to celebrate Kadooment day, people’s suspicion transformed into a belief.

The supermodel Barbara Palvin was seen partying with Hamilton during the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix, which fuelled their rumors of being together. A year later, the duo was also seen in an Instagram video walking down a corridor in Budapest. Later, the two even went for a sushi dinner.

But the romance between the two never flared. Eventually, Palvin settled down with an American actor Dylan Sprouse.

Winnie Harlow, yet again a supermodel, was seen getting costing up with Hamilton during the GQ awards 2016 in London. In 2018, the duo were again spotted getting out together at CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.

Though, over here, Hamilton has always maintained that they are friends. And nothing ever romantic happened during their time together.

Sofia Richie (2017)

The two were always spotted together in pictures and were seen visiting the Paris Fashion Week the same year. Though, the 14-years difference between the two never seemed like an issue. But soon, the two moved on, and Richie eventually started dating Scott Disick.

Nicki Minaj (2016, 2018)

Like other high-profile celebrities, Hamilton kept fans guessing about her relationship status with Nicki Minaj. The two were spotted Alexander Wang fashion show in 2016.

In 2018, Minaj attended Hamilton’s TommyXLewis Launch Party in New York 2018. The two were caught holding hands but have never confirmed their relationship.

Veronica Valle (2015)

In 2015, model Veronica Valle spilled beans against Hamilton to the Sun. She made controversial accusations of the F1 star for body shaming her on her eating habits and having a bad temper while they were rumoredly dating.

She also disclosed that once Hamilton was close to firing a pilot who reportedly pooped in the F1’s star private jet’s toilet, which apparently made Hamilton angry.

The duo were spotted in Los Angeles in 2019 at a petrol station, where Hamilton placed his hand on Zahra Elise’s neck. However, the reports near them claim that they are only good friends.

The Russian model once told the RT that the two were an item. She claimed that, at one point, the two were dating each other. But because of distance, the two eventually limited themselves to being friends.

Camila Kendra (2022)

The Dominican Republic model and social media influencer sparked rumors about her with Hamilton when she posted a photo of her on Instagram wearing Hamilton’s shirt at his home. After that, nothing happened, and Kendra is reportedly linked to Chelsea star Ben Chilwell.

Juliana Nalu (2023)

In 2023, Hamilton went for his off-season vacation in Antarctica. He was joined by several other celebrities like Shaun White, Nina Dobrev and Jared Leto. But the highlight of that trip was when a woman appeared sitting cosily with Hamilton.

Her identity remained mysterious, as her face didn’t come out. But by seeing her bikini alone, fans identified her as Juliana Nalu, who was also on the trip. The supermodel was earlier known for dating Kanye West. But now she probably is with the Mercedes star.

In season 3, episode 3 of the Netflix series Drive to Survive, once Hamilton was leaving the Sochi Autodrom with Angela Cullen during the Grand Prix weekend. The two realized they were the last people to leave the place, which usually happens in their case.

Cullen playfully whined, “We’re always last to leave,” to this, Hamilton replied, “that’s why we’re number one,” It only explains that over the years, Hamilton has made his entire life around F1 and doesn’t like to ponder over other things and remained focused on being the best.

That’s what has made him a seven-time world champion and defeated several adversaries on the way. This dedication has also made him statistically the most successful driver in F1, which only bolsters his case regarding the F1 GOAT debate.

But with him admitting that his career won’t last more than a few more years now, would there be a side to him where he now dedicates himself to raising a family? Well, that answer can only be told by the future.
