Life as a female rocker
Mia Lopez news
I’ve struggled on and off with buying guitars ever since I was learning to play, aged seven.
There are certain brands I can't use because they’re so heavy, such as Gibson. They sound amazing but they also have thick necks and I have small hands. Of course, not all girls have petite fingers - but many do and it can make it a lot harder to play the guitar.
The problem is, most have been created with men in mind. As a woman, you can't just walk into a shop and pick up the first guitar you see. You have to look for a really light model with a thin neck and thin strings.
Then there's the strap issue.
