Madison Russo Cancer – A Fake Fundraiser?

The news of Madison Russo’s cancer was proved false after the 19-year-old girl was scammed to collect donation money of around $37k.
Russo is from Bettendorf, Iowa. Police started looking into the child’s GoFundMe after medical experts allegedly found inconsistencies in Russo’s posts on social media concerning her disease.
Russo is charged with stealing around $37,303 from approximately 439 donors. She is being detained in Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bail since she has not given a statement. The inquiry is still underway.
On March 9, 2022, Maddie Russo posted on her GoFundMe page regarding her stomach cancer diagnosis.
According to GoFundMe, Russo studies at St. Ambrose University. She received a cancer diagnosis on February 10, 2022. The girl immediately began “radiation treatments and vigorous chemotherapy” to fight cancer.
GoFundme posted on their page, “As one can imagine, this diagnosis has been very hard on Maddie’s family. Just like with any cancer diagnosis, the cost of medical bills, gas, meals, and expenses can be a burden, and that is something this family should not have to worry about.”
Sources with medical knowledge allegedly told police about apparent medical inconsistencies in Madison Russo’s claim. On January 11, 2023, Russo was reported to the Eldridge Police Department.
