Early Life

Malin was born on 12th May, 1978 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents are Pia who was an aerobics teacher and a part time model and Magnus Akerman who worked as an insurance broker. She was just two when her family moved to Canada as her father got a job there. Her parents separated when she was six years old and she continued to grow up with her mother in Canada itself. She was then taken to Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario after her mother remarried.

This little child had a lot of struggle in her childhood with her parents who separated and moved places so she attended multiple schools. She attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in St. Catharines, Ontario, North Toronto Collegiate Institute and Dante Alighieri Academy. For a year she studied psychology at the New York University in Toronto but left studying in order to move to Los Angeles to pursue her career in acting.

Malin Akerman Career

Malin began her career at the age of five as a child model and appeared in many TV commercials. She won the Ford Supermodel of Canada at the age of 17. She began her acting career as a robot in the Canadian science fiction series Earth: Final Conflict in 1997. Malin made her film debut in The Skulls an American psychological thriller. After a lot of guest appearance in many of the television shows she moved to Los Angeles with a friend but had to struggle a lot there and had to face hundreds of auditions. She worked as a waitress there.

Soon she got a role in the film The Utopian Society which was a small role. She wanted to shift back to Canada as she was not able to get good roles but soon was selected for the supporting role of Juna in The Comeback on the HBO television series because of which she then got many more opportunities. She was also offered to sing for the band Ozono and was the lead singer there in no time because of her beautiful voice. The band was later known as The Petalstones. Malin in the year 2005 release her debut album Stung.

Akerman continued her acting career and earned a lot of recognition for her roles in films and TV series like The Brothers Solomon, The Heartbreak Kid, Love Monkey, Entourage, 27 Dresses, Bye Bye Sally, The Bang Bang Club, Wanderlust, Rock of Ages, Trophy Wife, The Final Girls, Billions and many more. Her upcoming projects for the year 2020 are The Three of Us where she will play the lead role of Ally and will also be featured in the AMC series Soulmates to be premier on 5th October, 2020.

Malin married Roberto Zincone an Italian musician in the year 2007. They had met each other while singing for the band The Petalstonesa where he was the drummer. They are blessed with a son Sebastian.
