Nate Diaz '100%' Guarantees Conor McGregor UFC Trilogy Fight, Eyes Jake Paul Rematch | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Mia Lopez Conor McGregor is eyeing a return to the octagon at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler, but one of his longtime rivals is also hoping to get a shot at the former two-division champ in the future.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Nate Diaz gave a "100 percent guarantee" that a third bout with McGregor will happen at some point.
Diaz also said he's got a "hit list" of future opponents that he's targeting, including a rematch in the boxing ring with Jake Paul.
The long-awaited showdown between McGregor and Chandler appears closer to becoming a reality.
McGregor told ESPN's Marc Raimondi last month he "got confirmation a few days ago that it's all systems go" for the match to take place at some point this summer. The Notorious has stated it's planned for UFC 303, but the promotion has yet to officially announce a date.
Diaz has turned his attention to boxing since his UFC contract expired after defeating Tony Ferguson in September 2022. His only professional boxing match thus far was a loss to Paul by unanimous decision on Aug. 5.
The 38-year-old is scheduled to step back in the boxing ring on June 1 against former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal.
Diaz and McGregor had a memorable two-fight series in 2016. Diaz won the first bout via second-round submission at UFC 196. The rematch took place five months later, with McGregor avenging his loss with a majority decision victory.
After losing to McGregor, Diaz took a three-year hiatus from competition. He returned at UFC 241, defeating Anthony Pettis in the semi-main event.
It's not surprising that Diaz would be looking for another bout with McGregor at some point. Their first two bouts were among the most successful financial fights, ranking among the top six events by pay-per-view buys in UFC history.
Diaz, who will turn 39 on Tuesday, is 21-13 in 34 career mixed martial arts fights. He owns a 16-11 record in fights under the UFC banner.
