NFL Rumors: D'Onta Foreman Signs Browns Contract in Free Agency After Bears Stint | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors
Mia Morrison D'Onta Foreman appears to have found himself a new home.
The veteran running back is signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns in free agency following his stint with the Chicago Bears, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Foreman joins a Browns running back room that includes Nick Chubb, Jerome Ford and Nyheim Hines.
It's no surprise Cleveland has a deep running back group entering the 2024 campaign after Chubb tore his ACL just two games into the 2023 season.
With Chubb sidelined, the Browns turned to Kareem Hunt and Jerome Ford out of the backfield. The duo was solid, but there was room for improved depth, hence the signings of Foreman and Hines.
Foreman had a productive 2023 season with the Bears working in a backfield that also included Khalil Herbert. He rushed for 425 yards and four touchdowns in nine games, in addition to catching 11 passes for 77 yards and one score.
The biggest asset for the Browns with the signing of Foreman is the fact that he has proven he can handle a large workload.
During his 2022 stint with the Carolina Panthers, he rushed for 914 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games, in addition to catching five passes for 26 yards.
In his second season with the Tennessee Titans in 2021, he took over when Derrick Henry was sidelined with a foot fracture, rushing for 566 yards and three touchdowns in nine games, in addition to catching nine passes for 123 yards.
That said, Chubb is expected to return healthy for the Browns in 2024 and with Ford still on the roster, it's unclear how much of an impact Foreman will have next season in Cleveland.
