Nick Stahl's Football Recruiting Profile
Sophia Edwards Personal Statement
I want to be successful in life. I hope to continue working to be the best athlete, student, son, person I can be. I love football and have played competitively since 5th grade. However, I did not become involved with kicking until the last part of my freshman year in high school -- just a little more than two years ago. I was quarterback in the 5/6th grade league. I switched to wide receiver in 7th grade and played wide receiver/safety for all of my middle school years and my freshman year. During my freshman year, I became friends with the kicker on the team who was a junior at the time. He invited me to workout with him a couple of days a week. Coach Reed May allowed me to practice with him, and I was hooked. I went to one camp the summer before my sophomore year. I was the JV kicker as a sophomore, and I worked extremely hard to improve. I feel like I have come a long way; as a junior, I tied the school records set by my friend during his senior year (42 yd fg, most fg/game). Our high school team has been dominant for the past couple of seasons. As kicker, I kick a lot of extra points and kick offs. One game as a junior, I kicked 9 of 9 extra points before the JV team and kicker came into the varsity game. I was named Jr All-State for 3A in Indiana as a junior. As a senior, I broke the school record longest field goal with a 45 yard kick on Senior night against our county rival! I was named Special teams MVP and was named All-State for 3A and HM All-Conference. My extra teams coach timed my kick-offs at 3.7 and 3.8 hang times. I kick a variety of kick-offs -- not just on-side kicks, but short lob-type kick-offs placed into holes. I believe I have even more to accomplish and know that with hard work I will continue to improve. I look forward to the possibility of continuing with kicking at the college level.
