Noah Vith's Men's Ice Hockey Recruiting Profile
Michael King Personal Statement
If I could describe myself in one phrase I’d say “a diamond in the dirt that has not yet been found.” Hockey is something I have always been passionate about. Throughout my years as a player a few traits stood out, the ability to be a leader, my great hockey sense and anticipation, my speed, my hands, and last but certainly not least work ethic. I lead by example, while being a positive presence off the ice for my teammates is important, after being a captain of multiple different teams, I have found out leading by example is much more effective. I tend to make the players around me better by having a high compete level, and focusing on little things that are important such as face offs and blocking shots, where my ethic shines a light on each part of the game for my teammates. My ability to put the puck in the net stems from a few important aspects of my game. My speed which gives me time and space, My ability to pass the puck with the purpose of finding open ice in prime scoring areas, My hands that give me an advantage over the goalie and gives me better opportunity to win individual battles, and my quick accurate snap shot that can be extremely deceiving. I have not been giving an opportunity to play at the top level, but without a doubt in my mind I could compete at every level of the game and bring positive aspects to the table. My lack of opportunity based on the area that I live in, Pittsburgh, where most if not all teir 1 teams are corrupt in their selection process, and pick the same players every year instead of the most skilled players, have caused me to be overlooked by coaches at the next level, but my work ethic, passion, and persistence in everything I do will help me compete with the disadvantage I am at. I will do anything to compete at the next level and all I need is one coach to give me that opportunity, and I will never look back. Ps: highschool career involved transfers.
My 8th grade year my school Avonworh middle school did not have a team so I opted to play for the Central Catholic Freshman team, and led in points.
My freshman year I transferred to central to play hockey and played both JV and VARSITY and led the team in points on JV
My softmore year, My hometown Public school avonworth created a team, and I did not like the way central catholic hockey was run, where the coaches sons got rostered varsity and couldn’t compete in JV practice, not to mention the cometitive AAA division we were in, and the blow poteinal we had as a team, so I transferred back to play for my hometown although it was the lowest division, I was happy, and again led the team in points and averaged 2.5 a game and led the Leaugue in playoff points with an average of over 3 points a game.
My junior year is currently going on and through 8 games I could not be more happy with my team, although the rest of the players are not as skilled I have never felt like I have made a bigger impact with my playmaking ability. I lead the team in goals, assist, points, power play goals, and short handed goals. Halfway through the season I have 25 points through 8 games and average 3.13 ppg.
I take pride in making my line mates better, after 4 games of my junior year season we had a line get changed and 4 games later, my line mate nearly tripled his point total, and went from .75 PPG to 1.7 PPG
Thank you,
I understand this may be a bit long, but it’ll help you create an image of the type of player I am.
