Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is one of the most heart-warming TV shows on air right now.

The Channel 4 series is now into its second series having first launched last year, where huge success saw the series nominated for a BAFTA.

This new five-part series sees a group of pre-school children integrated into the weekly schedule of a retirement home.

The focus of the documentary is to highlight the benefits of intergenerational friendships. But is the Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds real?

Season 1

The location for Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds changed for this year’s season 2.

Originally, the series was filmed at the St Monica Trust retirement community, in Bristol.

Although Channel 4 decided to change their filming location, St Monica still runs their ‘intergenerational programme’ whereby they bring older and younger generations together.

Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds: Season 2

Now, Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds is filmed at Lark Hall Village, in Nottingham.

Lark Hall is one of the biggest retirement villages in the U.K with over 400 residents ranging in age from 60 to 102 years old.

Residents taking part in the latest series include Victor, a 97-year-old Dunkirk veteran, and 84-year-old Beryl, who forms a blossoming friendship with four-year-old Scarlett, who sadly lost her mum.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust

Lark Hill Village is part of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust.

The Trust provides various intergenerational schemes in order to bring younger and older generations together across their housing and retirement villages.

This includes projects across 20 towns and villages in the Midlands and North of England.
