Pimp My Ride, Like Your Entire Childhood, Was a Lie
Michael King Excuse us if we’re bursting your bubble here, but it turns out that MTV’s beloved fixer-upper car show Pimp My Ride was total bullshit. The Huffington Post interviewed a few of the show’s past contestants, who each had different complaints about the show’s “reality” — everything from producers removing the add-ons after the show was done taping (“they actually take out a lot of the stuff that they showed on TV”) to “pimped” items that “were occasionally put into cars with no intention of them ever working in real life.” Whoops! That cotton-candy machine Xzibit excitedly installed in your ride? Well: “They installed [it to] fit into the trunk without leaving enough room for the dome top to keep the cotton candy strands ‘from flying all over the place.’” That same guy tells HuffPost that the show even “went the extra mile to make me look extra fat by telling the world that I kept candy all over my seat and floor just in case I got hungry … That was completely fabricated for the story.” Your pimped-out car dreams were always too good to be true.
