Rachael always wanted to help out kids, and what better way to give back to families than to use her passion for food and cooking?

That's why she proudly launched her Yum-o! organization in 2006.

"For me, I've always had this fun and loving relationship with great food and it's really brought the family together. So I decided one of my goals in life would be to try and give back to the world and use food to do it," Rach says. "I am so excited about this because it is about bringing kids and families together with food in a good and nutritious way."

WHAT IS RACHAEL'S YUM-O! ORGANIZATION?

Yum-o! is a nonprofit organization that empowers kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking through three main initiatives: Cook, Feed, and Fund.

"'Yum-o!' is the sound you make when you eat something really super delicious. It's kind of a combination of 'yummy' and 'oh wow!' You can't help but smile when you say it because it's such a fun word to say. A big part of the Yum-o! organization is about making cooking and eating something that makes people happy. Food should be delicious, fun and put a smile on your face," Rach writes.

COOK

Yum-o! educates kids and their families about food and cooking, empowering them to get started in the kitchen with "fun, nutritional, fast, affordable, great meals that families and kids can prepare together and share together," Rach says.

FEED

We want to live in a country where every child has access to nutritious food. Yum-o! partners with organizations to help end childhood hunger in America and to bring more awareness to this issue.

FUND

Yum-o! recognizes the wide variety of restaurant and food service industry opportunities for young people and helps them reach their food-related career goals by funding scholarships through their partnership with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

"We want to reward public schools in America that make good decisions for their kids," Rach says. "We want to reward them by giving them money and saying, 'Here, give this money to your kids in scholarship form so kids can go and make food their life' — because it certainly has been a good life for me."
