Robert Ramirez III, Navy Seal Team Commander, Found Dead At 47
Mia Horton Robert “Bobby” Ramirez III, navy seal team commander, was found dead at his San Diego home.
A decorated Navy officer was discovered dead just a month after taking over as leader of the elite SEAL Team 1.
According to authorities, a decorated Navy SEAL who was discovered dead at his San Diego home had committed suicide.
The 47-year-old combat hero Cmdr. Robert Ramirez III was discovered dead on Monday, December 19, 2022.
He has received medals for his service in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
‘This is a tragic loss for our neighborhood and everyone who knew him. The family, friends, and teammates of Bobby will continue to have our support throughout this incredibly trying time,’ Abernathy threw in.
Naval Special Warfare Command representatives told The Navy Times on Wednesday that there is no indication of foul play. They mentioned that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department inquiry is ongoing.
According to the San Diego medical examiner’s office, Ramirez committed suicide.
Following the news of Ramirez’s passing on Wednesday, friends and family members paid attention to the married parent Thursday night.
He joined the unit in June and only assumed command of the prestigious SEAL Team 1 a month ago and enlisted in the military in 1996, and in 2008, he was promoted.
He holds three Combat Action Ribbons, two of which are for service in Afghanistan and Iraq.
His further medals include five Bronze Star Medals, including two that bear the Combat ‘V’ insignia, which denotes bravery and heroic deeds.
Miguel Riggs, a boyhood buddy, and former basketball teammate regarded Ramirez as a very smart individual.
His military peers honored him as a ‘great hero, brother, and friend.’
According to Capt, Bobby was an exceptional leader, a loving husband, a father, and a wonderful friend to all of us. David Abernathy, Naval Special Warfare Group 1’s commanding officer, oversees all San Diego-based SEAL units.
This is a tragic loss for our neighborhood and everyone who knew him. Bobby’s family, friends, and teammates have our continued support during this incredibly trying time.
He was married to Anne, and the two brought up a family together.
Jennifer James, a friend, expressed her devastation, ‘My friends Robert Ramirez III and Anne Ramirez have served the mission of the USA by making several sacrifices and serving as ambassadors for our nation. On Monday, we lost a remarkable person, and Anne and Bobby’s story has to be shared.’
Navy doctor Obi Ugochukwu said, ‘This is really a devastating loss. This loss hurts so much, it’s unbearable. Bobby’s Change of Command Ceremony was attended by many of us, and it was a happy occasion. I simply want to say a prayer for Anne, the kids, and the rest of the family because I don’t understand this. This will hurt for a very long time since we lost a GREAT HERO.’
