Sandiaga Uno Optimistic with International Tourist Visit Outlook
Emily Wong TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 10,000 international tourists reportedly visit Bali on a daily basis, according to the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, this figure can help the country achieve its goal in terms of international tourist visitation in 2022.
"(Overall) 894,667 foreign tourists visited Bali throughout January to August 2022," said Sandiaga, Monday, October 10, Antaranews reported.
This year, Indonesia aims to attract international visitations of up to 3.6 million people. At least, according to Sandiaga, the middle threshold of 2.5 million people can be achieved despite the looming threat of an economic recession.
Hading into 2023, Sandiaga Uno said the goal for international and domestic tourist activities will be increased. He also said the Ministry is eyeing to attract investors in the field of tourism and creative economy at five “super priority destinations,” eight special economic regions (KEK), and three sustainable tourism destinations.
“If the investment goal is achieved, there will be 4.4 million job opportunities in 2024,” said Sandiaga Uno.
Moreover, he said that Indonesia’s main markets for potential tourists come from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the United Kingdom.
