Stan Elrod Passed Away – Beloved Educator And Former Principal Died
Andrew Mckinney Stan Elrod passed away on Tuesday, and his family confirmed his death by sharing it on social media. Stan Elrod was a school candidate and taught many students throughout his life.
He was a member of the five candidates in district 2 for a seat on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education. Recently, this week he became a Republican and paid a respectful greeting to the voters at the Lewisville Branch Library.
On Tuesday night, his family shared his death news, and the cause of his death was not revealed till Wednesday night. Continue reading to learn about Stan Elrod and his replacement for elections.
He remained the principal of Reynolds High School from 1991 to 2005. Before serving as a principal, he became the athletics director and assistant principal.
In 2005, he became the first principal of Reagan High School when it opened and served there until 2010.
Superintendent Tricia McManus of WS/FCS said, “Stan Elrod had a long and well-respected career with WS/FCS. While I never worked directly with Stan, he is someone I grew to know quickly because of his consistent devotion to our district and community.”
She said that he served his entire life in education and other related services. People admired him as a coach, principal, and district leader. The students and the district community were shocked to hear the news about his death.
She concluded, “his love of students will live on in the hearts of the many he touched. He will be sorely missed.”
After completing his service as a principal, he participated in district 2 on the seat of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education.
However, Wednesday night, Stan’s family went on social media to tell everyone that “Stan Elrod is no-more with us.” This shocked everyone who knew him and raised questions about what will happen in the elections scheduled for November 8.
Tim Tsujii is the director of the Forsyth County Board of Elections and released an official statement under state law.
He said that Elrod’s name would be on the ballot paper, but the executive committee of the Forsyth County Republican Party has to choose a replacement before the start of elections.
This meant that the votes going in Elrod’s ballot would be added to Elrod’s replacement, as per the state law.
Kay Raymond, who is the chairman of the Forsyth County Republican Party, said on Wednesday that the 111-member party executive would select Elrod’s replacement before the elections.
Kay Raymond also said that he was shocked when he heard the news about Elrod’s death. Other party members have also said they are deeply saddened to hear his death news.
A Forsyth County commissioner and a retired superintendent of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools named Martin said that Elrod was his good friend and “a skilled school administrator.”
He added that Elrod was working tirelessly for his election campaign, and he admired his work ethic. He said he was hurt to hear his death news.
