Several users went on reddit and similar platforms to pay tribute to Stephan Bonnar. He was a famous UFC Hall of Famer, and recently, the UFC world was shocked after the tragic passing of Stephan. 

It was confirmed that he passed away on Thursday, December 22, and according to UFC, it was reported that he had heart complications while at work. 

On Instagram, the UFC announced, “The UFC family is saddened by the passing of UFC Hall of Famer Stephan Bonnar. We send our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.”

Dana White, UFC President, shared a statement in which he said, “Stephan Bonnar was one of the most important fighters to ever compete in the Octagon. His fight with Forrest Griffin changed the sport forever, and he will never be forgotten. The fans loved him and related to him and he always gave them his best. He will be missed.”

Bonnar played a vital role in bringing the UFC to the mainstream and popularizing it to reach where it is now. In 2005 The Ultimate Fighter, he was featured in his first season and was in a fight against Forrest Griffin. 

Their match was headlining the mainstream, and the viewers were glued to the television as they couldn’t miss a split second of the fight. It was considered to be one of the best fights in history. 

Bonnar shared his experience of the fight and said it was a good fight during the match. He added the whole place was shaking when Griffin hit him as fans started to stomp on the ground. 

He added that in the second round of the match with Griffin, he realized, “‘oooh, this must be good.'”

Stephan was born on April 4, 1977, and he was famous for being an American professional wrestler and professional mixed martial artist.

He was an Indiana native, and at the age of 10, he began wrestling. At the age of 12, he developed his interest in Tae Kwon Do and made his way to Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by 22. He began boxing at the age of 24. 

Later, he was firm in his decision to make a career in the UFC. His career in the UFC was bright, and he received the opportunity to have matches with MMA stars, including Anderson Silva, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Jon Jones, Mark Coleman, and Tito Ortiz. 

His family and friends were saddened to hear about his passing. It can be hoped that Stephan’s family is blessed with courage during this difficult time.
